What WineMenu.ai does for diners
WineMenu.ai is a mobile app for iOS and Android. A diner scans a wine list, whether it is a printed menu, a chalkboard or an iPad, and every bottle is cross-referenced against retail prices and critic ratings. The app then gives its take on the whole list: what stands out, what to avoid and specific picks for the diner’s budget, taste and food.
That comparison only works if the retail benchmark and the ratings are reliable for the specific wine on the list. WineMenu credits Wine Labs as a provider of its wine pricing data.
The Wine Labs data WineMenu uses
WineMenu.ai uses Wine Labs on a Core Data and Market Data subscription. Day to day, it draws on two products:
- Market Data API price statistics: retail price benchmarks for a wine, in US dollars for North America.
- Critic Scores API: professional ratings for the same wine.
WineMenu has also used the Wine Matching API, which resolves free-text wine names to a canonical wine record with its Wine Labs ID and LWIN code.
