Pricing Infrastructure Behind Bacchus, the AI Cellar Assistant

dVIN Labs is building Bacchus, an AI-powered collector assistant that helps people choose wines, manage their cellar and monitor value. Wine Labs sits inside the pipeline as the matching, market data and listings layer underneath the app.

"Wine Labs is a really good match for the pricing layer behind Bacchus. The API works great, and the coverage lets us show proper price evolution on everything in a collector's cellar. It lets us focus on the core Bacchus experience instead of rebuilding the pricing infrastructure behind it."

Matching for every wine in a cellar

Bacchus resolves entire cellar lists to canonical wines via the Wine Labs Matching API, so every bottle a user adds lands on a consistent identifier.

Historical price evolution out of the box

The app shows price evolution on every matched wine, powered by the Wine Labs Markets API.

Coverage for wines of every tier

Wine Labs returns market data and listings across blue-chip names and long-tail producers alike, so Bacchus can value a full cellar, not only the top of it.

About dVIN Labs

dVIN Labs builds Bacchus, a free mobile app for iPhone and Android designed as a personal AI sommelier and collector assistant. The app helps collectors choose wines, manage their cellar, monitor value and get conversational guidance from their collection.

The Industry Reality

A real collector assistant has to cover the whole cellar, not just the famous names. Any team building a serious product on top of that reality is working against the same industry-wide dynamics.

  • Matching free-text wine names at scale is the first real hurdle: cellar imports arrive as raw lines, and turning entire batches of those into canonical wines is table stakes for any app that lets users upload their cellar.
  • Price data is deepest at the top of the market: consumer apps that also want to cover everyday bottles need a data provider that has explicitly built coverage beyond the top slice.
  • Historical price evolution is what makes a cellar reasonable: showing how a bottle has moved over time is what turns a static list into something collectors can reason about.

What We Delivered

The Matching API, wired into Bacchus ingestion

dVIN Labs calls the Wine Labs Matching API every time a user adds bottles to their cellar or imports a list. Raw lines come back mapped to canonical Wine Labs identifiers, across entire cellars including long-tail producers, and the API scales with those batches as Bacchus grows.

Market data and historical price evolution

The Wine Labs Markets API feeds current market prices and historical price evolution into Bacchus. That powers the charts and valuations shown on every bottle, as well as the portfolio-level P&L and projected-value views the app is built around.

Listings coverage across wines of every tier

Wine Labs also delivers a Listings feed that covers the traditional blue-chip universe and the long tail of everyday wines. That coverage shape means Bacchus can show a credible valuation and a real listings view for effectively any bottle a collector owns, not only the top of the market.

Impact

  • Full-cellar valuations, not top-of-market valuations: matching and pricing that stretch from blue-chip names to everyday wines let Bacchus value a collector's entire cellar in one coherent view.
  • A single pricing spine under the app: matching, market data and listings all key off the same Wine Labs identifiers, so new views and new AI agent behaviors land on top of that spine without rewiring the data layer.
  • More focus on the product collectors see: because matching, pricing and listings all come from one vendor with aligned identifiers, the team spends its cycles on Bacchus itself (the collector assistant, the portfolio views, the cellar UX).

What's Next

Wine Labs and dVIN Labs keep an active feedback loop as Bacchus grows. The shared direction is straightforward: keep extending the pricing infrastructure underneath Bacchus so that every part of a collector's cellar is as intelligible as the top of it.
