Oak Leaf Chardonnay Price and Value in 2026

Oak Leaf Chardonnay is one of the lowest-priced Chardonnays sold in the United States. Between October 20 and November 4, 2026, Wine Labs collected Walmart store prices for it at 2,395 stores. The median shelf price for a 750 ml bottle was $3.96. The 1.5 litre bottle had a median of $7.46, and the 3 litre box $14.12.

What Oak Leaf Chardonnay is

Oak Leaf is a Walmart house brand. In 2008, the Wine Curmudgeon reported that "the Oak Leaf label, produced by The Wine Group, is the retailing giant's house brand" (Wine Curmudgeon, March 2008). A review from the same year lists the producer as Oak Leaf Vineyards of Ripon, California (Winecentric, March 2008).

The Chardonnay is a non-vintage California wine. Walmart's current 750 ml listing describes it as "Oak Leaf Vineyards Chardonnay, White Wine, 750ml, 12.5% ABV". The 1.5 litre and 3 litre listings in our data do not state an alcohol level.

In our grocery data, every Oak Leaf Chardonnay listing is at Walmart. Outside Walmart we found 62 listings, 42 of them on DoorDash, and 2 restaurant listings. These are too few to give a reliable price.

At the median, the 3 litre box costs about 11% less per 750 ml than the bottle. The 1.5 litre bottle costs about 6% less.

A 750 ml bottle holds about five 5-ounce glasses. At median prices:

The difference between the formats is a few cents a glass. The bottle needs the lowest outlay. The larger sizes cost less per glass when the wine is finished.

Price points at Walmart

Walmart uses a small number of price points for this wine. Most stores fall on one of three or four prices.

Most states have the same median 750 ml price of $3.96. Washington is the exception among states with at least 20 stores, at $4.12. State alcohol laws differ, and a store price page does not by itself confirm that a store sells wine.

Prices since launch

In 2008, Drinkhacker reported that Oak Leaf wines sold "in California Wal-Marts for $1.97 a bottle ($2.97 everywhere else)" (Drinkhacker, May 2008). Today's median 750 ml price of $3.96 is $1.99 above the 2008 California price and 99 cents above the price elsewhere. These are two single reports, not a continuous price series, and they are not adjusted for inflation.

Oak Leaf is a range, not one wine. Walmart lists these Oak Leaf wines in 750 ml bottles:

The range also includes flavored "Sweets" wines, listed at fewer than 25 stores in our data. When you compare prices, check that the listing is the Chardonnay and not a blend that contains Chardonnay.

How to compare Oak Leaf Chardonnay prices

• Match the format. A 3 litre box at $14.12 and a bottle at $3.96 are close per 750 ml. Compare the price per 750 ml, not the shelf price.
• Match the wine. The Chardonnay, the Pinot Grigio - Colombard and the flavored Sweets wines share the Oak Leaf name. Check the grape on the label.
• Expect a fixed set of prices. Most Walmart stores use one of three or four price points per format. A price far outside them, such as the $5.66 bottle in our data, is worth a second look before you treat it as a market change.
• Treat delivery prices separately. A delivery-app listing is a different service from a shelf price.

Auctions and resale

Wine Labs found no auction lots of Oak Leaf Chardonnay. The wine is non-vintage and sold for current drinking, so the current shelf price is the relevant benchmark. To compare it with other low-priced Chardonnays, compare the same format at the same price per 750 ml.
