Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon: Vintages, Blends and Prices in 2026
Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon: published blends, oak and winemakers, plus live prices from 3,256 shops, 1,306 auction sales and 1,992 restaurants.
Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon is the red wine of Jordan Vineyard & Winery in Alexander Valley, Sonoma County. The winery makes only two wines, this Cabernet and a Chardonnay, and says it focuses on those two and on hospitality (Jordan). The Cabernet is always a blend, with Merlot, Petit Verdot and Malbec alongside the Cabernet Sauvignon (Jordan).
Below is what the winery has published about the wine and its vintages, and what it sells for today in shops, at auction and on restaurant lists. Blend and cellar figures come from the winery's own tasting notes. The prices come from Wine Labs data collected on November 4, 2026.

How Jordan began
Tom and Sally Jordan bought 275 acres on the Alexander Valley floor in 1972 and planted their first Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot vines. In 1974 they decided to build a winery, bought the land that is now the Jordan Estate and hired André Tchelistcheff as consulting winemaker. The winemaking wing of the chateau was finished a week before the 1976 harvest, which was the first Jordan Cabernet. That wine was released in 1980 (Jordan timeline).
The wine has not always carried the Alexander Valley name. After a phylloxera outbreak and replanting, Jordan lost its estate-grown status in 1994, and from 1996 the Cabernet was labeled Sonoma County. It got the Alexander Valley appellation back in 2002 (Jordan timeline).
Who makes the wine
Rob Davis was hired as winemaker in 1976 and retired in 2019, after his 43rd growing season. Maggie Kruse was then promoted to winemaker. She had worked with him since at least 2005, when the two started a "super blend" Cabernet project. John Jordan took over day-to-day running of the winery in 2005 and became its full owner in 2007 (Jordan timeline). Kruse calls 2019 her first official vintage as head winemaker (2019 tasting note).
Where the fruit comes from
Jordan Cabernet is a blend of estate and grower vineyards, not a single-vineyard wine. The winery buys about 10% more fruit than it needs each year, so it can leave out weaker lots (Jordan). For the 2021 vintage, the fruit came from 55 vineyard blocks on the Jordan Estate and from 17 family growers (2021 tasting note).
Most of the fruit is from Alexander Valley, but not all of it. The 2021 is 88% Alexander Valley, 7% Mendocino County, 3% Dry Creek Valley and 2% Sonoma Valley. Mendocino County has been part of the blend in every tasting note we read, from 14% in 2011 to 17% in 2017 (2011, 2017).
Jordan Cabernet vintages and blends
Cabernet Sauvignon has made up 77% to 87% of the wine in the vintages below, with Merlot second every time. The 2021 has the most Cabernet Sauvignon and the least Petit Verdot of the eight.

Two things stand out. The first is the oak. Up to 2014 some American oak went into the barrels. The 2015 was the first Jordan Cabernet aged only in French oak (Jordan timeline), and every later note we read says 100% French. Barrels have come from Tonnellerie Nadalié in Bordeaux since the 1976 vintage (Jordan).
The second is the alcohol, which has stayed between 13.6% and 13.8%. The winery says its grapes ripen at lower sugar levels than the industry standard (Jordan). Jordan also holds the wine back: each vintage above came out three and a half to four years after harvest.
What Jordan Cabernet costs today
On November 4, 2026, 3,256 sellers had Jordan Cabernet on offer in a 750 ml bottle. Almost all of them are in the US (3,172 sellers), followed by Israel (29) and Japan (10). Half of all offers sit between $64 and $83, and the median is $73. The winery lists the 2022 at $60 on its own shop.

| Channel | Price | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| Auction | $55 | Median of 1,306 sales, buyer's premium included |
| Winery, 2022 release | $60 | jordanwinery.com list price |
| Shops | $73 | Median of 3,256 sellers, all vintages |
| Restaurants | $132 | Median of 1,992 wine lists |
These four prices don't measure the same thing. The winery price is for the current release. Shop prices mix recent and older vintages. Auction prices are what one lot sold for, with the buyer's premium but before shipping, tax and storage. A restaurant price includes service.
By vintage, the two most widely stocked are the 2020 (151 sellers, median $61) and the 2021 (140 sellers, $60). At auction, the vintages in the table below sold for $44 to $52. We leave the 2014 and 2015 out of the table. Their shop medians ($160 and $143) sit far above the vintages around them, and we have not been able to check why.
Medians per 750 ml. Vintages from 2011 to 2021 with at least five shop sellers and five auction sales; 2014 and 2015 left out.

Buying Jordan Cabernet
The winery sells the current release and older vintages on its online shop, and says many of those bottles are only available from the winery. Older vintages, back to the 1976, also turn up at auction, often for less than shops ask.
